days later teasing its 2023 plansby Taito Bobble Puzzle series and Black Metal are coming to Switch thanks to City Connection and its S-Tribute series (thanks, Gematsu!).
Puzzle Bobble 2X / BUST-A-MOVE 2 Arcade Edition & Puzzle Bobble 3 / BUST-A-MOVE 3 S-Tribute – a collection of arcade and console versions of Puzzle Bobble 2 and 3 – and Black Metal S-Tribute – a re-release of the classic side-scrolling shooter – both arrive digitally on Switch (and other consoles) on February 2.
Let’s start with the Bub and Bob spin-off series (also known as Bust-A-Move). Currently, you can get Puzzle Bobble 2 on the eShop through ACA NEOGEO, but this new collection bundles the classic arcade game with its sequel while including all re-releases of the game as well as additional modes.
Here’s what to expect from the current favorite for the longest game title of 2023, Puzzle Bobble 2X / BUST-A-MOVE 2 Arcade Edition & Puzzle Bobble 3 / BUST-A-MOVE 3 S-Tribute:

Metal Black S-Tribute is therefore based on the 1996 console port. The original game was created by many people who worked on it gun borderand was originally intended to serve as the third entry into the Darius series due to its dark and futuristic atmosphere.
Again, you can retrieve it using the Arcades Archives version already, but this version of City Connection includes many new features. Here’s what you can expect:
Power ups
Upgrade your beam by grabbing the power-ups floating on the screen called NEWALONE (round molecules colored in red, blue and yellow). There are five levels (the highest being MAX) to optimize your shots.When the beam gauge is full, you can perform beam energy attacks. However, the beam gauge will decrease with each of these attacks, and once it is empty, the beam energy attack cannot be used.
There are two types of beam energy attacks
Focused Beam: Performs a forward focused attack while the energy fire button is pressed and held. When the beam gauge is maxed out, it will fire MAX lasers.
– Release Beam: When the level of the beam gauge is at MAX, pressing the energy shot button will trigger an attack that will damage all enemies.The boss of each stage also launches beam energy attacks. When your ship’s beam collides with a boss’s beam, the interference creates a huge ball of energy, which travels from the side with a higher gauge to the side with a lower gauge.
Convenient functions and option settings only available in S-Tribute
– Rewind – Rewind the game for a while and resume.
– Slow Mode – Slow down the pace of the game with the press of a single button.
– Quick Save/Load – Save game state at any time.
– Online Leaderboard – Switch to online leaderboard mode in settings to enter your score in online leaderboards and check how you compare to others.

Stage Select – The game can be started from any stage.
– Energy Acquisition Amount – Change the amount of energy increased when acquiring NEWALONE. Increasing the amount makes it easy to reach the maximum power and enjoy the game casually. Reducing the amount makes it harder to build up energy, which makes the game harder.
– Energy Release Amount – Change the amount of energy reduced when performing a beam energy attack. Decreasing the amount allows the attack to be used longer, increasing the amount shortens the attack.
– Scan Lines – Mimics the nostalgic display of the CRT monitor.
