Barrister Shailendra Mishra, the lawyer for TV actor Tunisha Sharma, charged in the death of Sheezan Khan, said on Saturday his client (Sheezan) was innocent and trusted the judiciary.

“Before being brought to court in Vasai, Sheezan Khan met with his family. He spoke to us and said he trusted the justice system,” lawyer Mishra told ANI as he walked out of Vasai court on Saturday.

“I have complete faith in the justice system. I am innocent, ‘Satyamev Jayate’,” Sheezan’s lawyer said, quoting Sheezan.

According to Mishra, they will file their first bail application in the court case on Monday.

“We have requested certified documents related to the case. It will be good if we get it today. If not, we will file the first bail application on Monday morning,” lawyer Shailendra Mishra told the ANI.

Earlier in the day, the court in Vasai sent the accuser Sheezan Khan into custody for 14 days.

Speaking on his client’s custody, Shailendra Mishra told ANI that police tried to seek custody of Sheezan, based on the same ground that was presented in court yesterday.

Sheezan Khan is the former boyfriend and co-star of Tunisha, 21, who was reportedly found hanging out on a TV drama on December 24, a fortnight after their months-long relationship broke down.

He was arrested for complicity in suicide on December 25. So far, the police have recorded the statements of 27 people in this case.
