
Igor Shesterkin, Jason Robertson and Matty Beniers were among 11 first-time selections for the 2023 Honda NHL All-Star Game at FLA LIVE Arena in Sunrise, Fla. on Feb. 22, 2023. 4 (3 p.m. ET; ABC, ESPN+, CBC, SN, TVAS) .
Shesterkin, a goaltender (New York Rangers), and forwards Robertson (Dallas Stars) and Beniers (Seattle Kraken) were among 32 players selected by the NHL’s hockey operations department on Thursday to represent their respective divisions. One player has been selected from each of the 32 NHL teams.
“The All-Star Game is pretty special, so I’m excited for that,” Beniers said. “(Kraken general manager) Ron Francis and (coach) Dave Hakstol pulled me aside probably a week ago and told me, so that was pretty cool. It was hard to keep silence, it really was.”
Goalkeepers Linus Ullmark (Boston Bruins) and Logan Thompson (Vegas Golden Knights) were also picked for the first time, as were forwards Andrei Svechnikov (Carolina Hurricanes), Kevin Hayes (Philadelphia Flyers), Brock Nelson (New York Islanders), Mark Thompson (Buffalo Sabers) and Kevin Fiala (Los Angeles Kings), defenseman Josh Morrissey (Winnipeg Jets).
Forward Matthew Tkachuk will represent the hometown of the Florida Panthers in the Atlantic Division. This will be the second All-Star Game for Tkachuk, who played in 2020 as a member of the Calgary Flames. his brother, Brady Tkachukwill represent the Ottawa Senators, and the two will be teammates in the NHL All-Star Game for the first time.
Under the new voting format, the remaining 12 players (two skaters, one goaltender per division) will be selected through the 2023 Honda All-Star Fan Vote presented by Guaranteed Rate, which begins at 9 p.m. Thursday and runs until on January 1. 5 p.m. to midnight ET. In previous seasons, fan-elected captains voted before hockey operations chose the remaining rosters (not limited to one player per team) and fans chose a Last Men In for each team. .

For the first time, fan voting will include a Twitter vote, which begins January 1. 12 to 12:01 a.m. ET and ends January 1. 2-11:59 p.m. ET.
Each fan tweet must include the full hashtag “#NHLAllStarVote” followed by a player’s full name or a player’s Twitter handle. Only the reference to a family name will not count. All Twitter votes will be combined with online vote totals.
The three remaining players per team will be announced on January 1. 19.
Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin He will play his eighth All-Star Game, the most active player in the NHL. San Jose Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson and Columbus Blue Jackets forward Johnny Gaudreau each will play his seventh. The All-Star Game will feature a three-game tournament, played in a 3-on-3 format and featuring teams from every NHL division. Each of the four teams will consist of nine skaters and two goalies.
The coaches whose teams have the best points percentage in each division in games on January 1. 11 – when the NHL reaches the official midpoint of the season – will be the head coaches of the stars.
The 2023 NHL All-Star Skills presented by DraftKings will take place on February 1. 3 (7 p.m. ET, ESPN, ESPN+, SN, TVAS).
