
BOSTON– The Seattle Kraken will host the 2024 Discover NHL Winter Classic at T-Mobile Park on January 1. January 1, 2024 against the Vegas Golden Knights.
The NHL’s first away game in Seattle will feature the two newest NHL additions at the home of Major League Baseball’s Seattle Mariners.
“We’re very excited,” said Kraken CEO Tod Lewieke. “I think in some ways those things that we hoped to happen are the things that we dreamed of. But it’s a great honor that in our third season we’re going to be hosting, really, an international event.”
The Kraken are in their second season since joining the NHL as the 32nd team for the 2021-22 season.
“It’s a big deal, all the other teams are thinking about this kind of event and all the other teams want to organize these events,” Leiweke said. “We had to make our point. The city is great for big events. But it basically required a partnership between the Mariners, beautiful T Mobile and the whole organization.”
The match will be broadcast exclusively on TNT in the United States and on Sportsnet and TVA Sports in Canada. A time will be announced later.
