New York Giants Head coach Brian Daboll said Thursday he continues to be encouraged by the progress of cornerback Adoree’ Jackson, who hasn’t played since Week 11 due to an MCL sprain.
“I think he feels good” Dabol said. “I think (Thursday) is another important day for him. Encouraged, full of hope, but I think we have to go through these next two days seeing progress. We have to see how he does repetition after repetition after repetition. I think he’s making progress, but, again, I never want to put someone out there who isn’t quite ready to go or (doesn’t feel) ready to go.

Jackson was officially listed as a limited practice participant. The Giants added two players to the injury report – right tackle Evan Neal (ankle) and wide receiver Marcus Johnson (knee). Both were listed as limited attendees.
Kafka thwarts coaching rumors
Reports on Tuesday indicated that Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka was asked to interview for head coaching vacancies with the Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans.
Kafka opened his press conference on Thursday by closing questions on this topic.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to be part of these conversations and to be part of this process, but that’s really all I have to add,” Kafka said. “My focus today and this week is really to get our guys ready for Minnesota and the week ahead and practice today. That’s really all I’ll have on it.
Wink – Giants will always attack
The Giants blitzed a league-high with 39.7% defensive snaps this season. Defensive coordinator Wink Martindale isn’t about to apologize for that, even if it doesn’t work out sometimes.
“I just think our personality as a defender is to attack,” Martindale said on Thursday. “If you have a NY on your helmet or the old school Giants on your helmet, you’re going to attack.”
Martindale was asked about the third and 9th game at the end of Game 1 against Minnesota. The Giants blitzed, didn’t get a home run, and Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins completed a 16-yard pass to star receiver Justin Jefferson. It kept alive a drive that ended with Greg Joseph’s 61-yard field goal winner.
“It’s one of those situations where it was a talking point about whether you could have done that? Could you have done that? Could you have done that?” Martindale said. look at it like me personally when i call the game, is it time for us to win it? At the time, we were trying to win defensively where we were in this situation. Now you say you’re pushing, and you’ve got (wide receiver Justin Jefferson) 18 there. We have 18 with a safety above him. Great players make great plays and 18 makes a great play.
“Make no mistake about it, you can’t take 18 away from him. You try to limit him, but you can’t take away from him. I think I said it last time, he’s one of the top two receivers and he’s not number two in this league.
