Eagles-Saints snap counts: Miles Sanders plays his lowest total of the season

The official snap counts from Philadelphia Eagles“Week 17 Loss vs. New Orleans Saints are in. Let’s take a look and run through some analysis.

  • Even with Jalen Hurts and Lane Johnson out, the Eagles should still be able to put up 10+ points when their quarterback and offensive line plays the entire game. It’s not like they’ve been troubled by in-game injuries.
  • For the first time this season, AJ Brown played the whole match. He caught four of nine targets for 94 yards and a touchdown. The bulk of his production came on his 78-yard score.
  • DeVonta Smith continues to look good.
  • Dallas Goedert saw six targets this week after only seeing three against the Cowboys. So good in the team for trying to involve him a bit more. His three catches went for 45 yards. In fairness to the Eagles, the Saints allow the least fantasy football tight end points this season.
  • Quez Watkins only saw one target out of 28 shots played. He played his fourth-lowest snap count percentage. Probably not unrelated to recent struggles.
  • Miles Sanders played his lowest snap count percentage of the season at 40% even. Its previous low was 50.9% and that came when the Eagles pulled their starters against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Sanders’ 12 carries were for 61 yards (5.1 average). It’s fair to wonder why the coaching staff haven’t done a better job of involving him more on the pitch. Again, he was wearing a knee brace and might not have been able to support a much larger load.
  • Jack Stoll saw his lowest snap count percentage of the season. Not so much 12 people in this game.

  • In addition to resting at the end of the Tennessee Titans game, Marcus Epps has not missed a wink this year.
  • Although by a narrow margin, Kyzir White actually edged out TJ Edwards in this match. There is a stronger argument to be made. White should see fewer snaps, not more.
  • Brandon Graham played his highest snap percentage by far due to Josh Sweat’s injury. Graham’s previous high this season was 47.8%. He took advantage of the additional opportunities, however, and managed his first-ever double-digit sack season.
  • Fletcher Cox had his busiest game in weeks, registering his first sack since Week 14. It probably helped that he ran into backup guards. Still, kudos to him for coming.
  • Josiah Scott was still the nickel cornerback despite struggling to replace Avonte Maddox. He recorded his second career interception as he struck out Andy Dalton.
  • It was Linval Joseph’s third lowest percentage since joining the team. Small role in the game plan this week.
  • Jordan Davis hasn’t registered a solo tackle since before the ankle injury he suffered in Week 8.
  • For the second week in a row, Nakobe Dean saw very limited playing time in defense. Maybe the Eagles should look to increase that a bit more.

  • Zech McPherson made a nice tackle on punt coverage.
  • Shaun Bradley was able to watch the medical tent at one point but was able to finish the game.
  • Kyron Johnson was active after being a healthy scratch last week due to a numbers crunch.
  • It was the first time Grant Calcaterra was active for a game but didn’t register an offensive snap.
  • Not listed in the screenshot: Andre Dillard and Grant Calcaterra each played two ST snaps.

IDLE: Jalen Hurts, Lane Johnson, Avonte Maddox, Trey Sermon, Sua Opeta, Janarius Robinson

ASSET: Ian Book, Josh Sills

  • With Johnson out, Sills was active for the first time since Week 5 (and the second time in his career) to provide more tackle depth. But he didn’t play a single snap, even on private teams.
  • With Hurts expected to be available in Week 18, Book will once again become a healthy scratch as QB3.
