Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez 'will live together in Saudi Arabia despite strict marriage laws'

Cristiano Ronaldo and his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez will be allowed to live together in Saudi Arabia despite the laws of the Kingdom which prohibit the cohabitation of unmarried couples.

The The 37-year-old star striker has joined Saudi club Al Nassr On a two-and-a-half-year deal estimated to cost around £175million a year, he was officially unveiled to supporters at a grand ceremony tuesday.

Argentine-born Spanish model Rodriguez, who is accompanying Ronaldo at the unveiling, will also move to Riyadh with Ronaldo’s five children, two of whom are his own.

The couple never married and, with Saudi Islamic laws strictly prohibiting “cohabitation without a marriage contract”, it was unclear how the family would stay together.

But authorities would turn a blind eye, allowing Rodriguez and Ronaldo to live under one roof given the star power the footballer brings, two Saudi lawyers told the Spanish press.

“Although the laws of the kingdom still prohibit cohabitation without a marriage contract, the authorities have recently begun to turn a blind eye and no longer prosecute anyone.

“Although these laws are used when there is a problem or a crime.”

Another lawyer added: “Today the Saudi authorities no longer intervene in this case – for expatriates – even though the law prohibits cohabitation without marriage.”

The next problem the couple faces is Rodriguez’s visa.

She will not receive a visa automatically by marriage, and Saudi employment laws decree that “any woman who obtains a visa to enter the kingdom will be the wife, worker or first-degree relative of a man. residing in the kingdom,” according to one of the lawyers who spoke to EFE.

Lawyers have speculated that the Al Nassr football club could personally sponsor the model’s visa, with the alternative of Rodriguez obtaining a one-year tourist visa, although this would expire well before the end of Ronaldo’s contract.

MailOnline has approached Ronaldo’s representatives for comment.

Ronaldo and Rodriguez were housed in some of the best accommodation Riyadh has to offer in one of the 17 rooms occupied by his entourage, including family, friends and security guards.

The footballer is booked to stay in the Kingdom Suite, one of the best in the 99-storey building, for a month.

The cost of the hotel suite is not even listed on the hotel website and must be booked privately, just like the adjacent ‘royal suite’. But the smaller “presidential suite” can be booked online and the cost for one night is £3,300 per night.

It is estimated that the hotel bill for Ronaldo and his entourage will top £250,000 when the striker leaves the suite and heads to his new Saudi home with Rodriguez.

Until then, they can enjoy the city’s most spectacular views and savor the finest cuisine in their five-star temporary residence, with a team of chefs offering exclusive in-room dining service.

The hotel says of its Kingdom Suite: “Entertain your guests with stunning views of Riyadh. Our new two-story suite spans the 48th and 50th floors of the hotel, with a soaring living room, private office, dining room, and media room.

His “royal suite” offers less space, but at 2,595ft it would still be larger than most apartments in Britain, where Ronaldo has lived twice during his spells at Manchester United.

The hotel says the suite offers panoramic views of Riyadh “and its surroundings lend a unique sense of exclusivity to this versatile suite, which includes an elegant dining room, pantry, lounge and executive office.”

When Ronaldo and his family eventually leave the hotel, they will likely be living in one of the city’s prestigious areas, such as Al Muhammadiyah, known for its high-end restaurants, or Al Nakheel, popular with families due to its international schools.

Both areas are close to the 28,000-seat Al Nassr Stadium at Mrsool Park, formerly known as King Saud University Stadium, and feature a large number of high-end gated complexes built for Western residents.

Many have their own swimming pools, preschools, shops, clinics, gyms and restaurants, meaning residents almost never need to leave.

Saudi Arabia property rental websites do not list any high-end rental complexes, as they tend to be rented under private agreements with expat employers.

But properties currently up for sale in Riyadh include an eight-bedroom palace priced at 55m Saudi riyals (£12.2m), which features an Olympic-sized swimming pool and a lobby with waterfalls and three villas additional on his land.

The palace which could sit alongside Ronaldo’s advertised portfolio of eight other properties around the world is in the Al Macqa district, just three miles from Mrsool Park, and includes accommodation for maids and the drivers.

He has plenty of time to find a suitable mansion as he is banned from playing competitive football until he serves a two-game suspension for knocking a mobile phone from the hands of a schoolboy supporting Everton in April last.
