Sunday Night Football preview: Ravens favored by 2.5 points over Steelers

The Ravens earned a playoff berth, but it’s not enough for these greedy, poetic birds. Wins in their last two games and a loss to Cincinnati would equate to a division title and elevate Baltimore to the No. 1 title. 3 seeds and a home playoff in the first round.
What to play, right?
Again, according to FanDuelBaltimore is down just 2.5 points at home against a Steelers team that is struggling to score as much as Elon Musk has Twitter accounts suspended.
In 10 of his previous 15 seasons, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin led his team to the NFL playoffs. That seems unlikely this season, as the Steelers have to skip six teams to enter the postseason tournament. The prospect of their first losing season since 2003 isn’t a warm thought for Pittsburgh fans, but the fact that the franchise hasn’t won a playoff game since 2016 stings even more.
More troubling, the Steelers made Kenny Pickett the first quarterback selected in last year’s draft and gave him the chance to show he’s their future. If he is the future, that future is undetermined, and the post-Big Ben era might be rockier than Tomlin or Steelers fans want.
Pittsburgh won four of five, seemingly in a desperate quest to salvage what could have been a disastrous season. The defense began to channel the Steel Curtain of the 1970s. In each of its last four games, the Pittsburgh D allowed just one touchdown. That includes a 16-14 loss to the Ravens in Week 14. It’s the Steelers’ only loss since before Thanksgiving, and it feels like the Black and Gold are proud again, which means this match should be close.
But the Ravens’ defense, third stingiest in the NFL in dropouts, tipped it in favor of the home team. Plus, the possibility of moving their first-round playoff game off the road to M&T Bank Stadium is enough to motivate Baltimore to cover the 2.5-point gap.
