Final Eagles-Cowboys injury report: Jalen Hurts officially ruled out

the Philadelphia Eagles released its third and final official injury report on Thursday ahead of its Week 16 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Eagles have ruled out two players: Jalen Hurts and Tyree Jackson.

No surprise here. Hurts did not practice this week and Nick Sirianni announced that Gardner Minshew would start Thursday morning. Hopefully these reports of Minshew looking good in practice translate to a big game in Dallas. Minshew has a lot to gain in terms of raising his profile before becoming a free agent this offseason. Ian Book will be active for the first time this season as a substitute for Minshew.

If the Eagles are able to pull off the upset, we may not see Hurts play in the regular season again. If the Eagles lose, we could see Hurts come back as early as next week’s game against the New Orleans Saints. We’ll see.

Jackson was listed as limited to training on Tuesday and Wednesday before being downgraded to not training on Thursday. The Eagles could very well open up a spot on the roster by putting him on IR. They don’t really need Jackson as the fourth tight end on the roster right now when they could fill his spot by promoting special teams contributor/backup linebacker Christian Elliss from the practice squad.

The Eagles ruled a DOUBTFUL player: Zach Pascal.

Pascal was promoted to limited on Thursday after not training on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Eagles’ fourth wide receiver must go through the NFL’s mandatory concussion protocol before being cleared to play. It looks like there’s a chance he’s ready, but it’s not a certainty.

Just a reminder that Dallas Goedert was activated from injured reserve earlier this week.

He’s set to play his first game since Week 10. Goedert wasn’t on the injury report at all this week; It looks like he’s ready to return to his big role in the attack.

Reed Blankenship is listed with no playing status after missing last week’s game. He is ready to go. K’Von Wallace is also set to play.

The Eagles will use at least one of their two temporary practice squad elevations on Brett Kern to be their punter for this game. It remains to be seen whether they will use the second. Hitting Anthony Harris for more safety depth is an option for them.
