On if he feels it’s a missed opportunity to arc the season by giving up a ten and seven point lead early in the third quarter and midway through the fourth (turning the ball over).

Yeah, when it comes to turnovers, you can’t give a good team like that ball four times and expect to win the game. This put the defense in a difficult situation. So [I’m] disappointed with turnovers, disappointed with some of the things we need to do to coach better. Disappointed with some of Dallas’ third conversions, but thanks to them. Part of it is that they’re also playing and forcing it. It’s a good football team, but we can’t stop a good football team from beating us by giving away the ball.

Have a chance to do the same thing next week that they had a chance to do this week (win at home) with at least one report saying the quarterback will be the same. Does he see this as something they can build on in eight days?

Yes, we will correct all the mistakes we made in this game because we made a lot of them. While playing, while training, we made lots of mistakes from which we will learn. That’s what I like about this team, is that we will learn from our mistakes, and we will just want to improve. So we’ll improve from that, we’ll see what happens as far as everything goes. I thought Gardner played a good game. On the first interception, I thought it was a pretty good 27 play (Jayron Kearse). Hats off to him, he’s a good player. The second, the ball was in both hands and the guy walked away with it, so Gardner played a really good game. But, like I said, we’ll get out of here. We’ll see what happens. Like I said, with Jalen, never put anything in front of him. We even thought he had a chance to play this week and we’ll see next week, but we’ll take it one day at a time and we’ll see, and we’ll improve from this game.

What was the problem on 3rd-and-30 conversion.

We didn’t play and the guy did. It really is that simple. TY Hilton made a great catch. Dak made a great pitch and we didn’t play. They did and we didn’t.

On whether this result will affect whether Jalen plays next week.

If Jalen is ready to go, Jalen will play. He’s our starting quarterback. If he’s ready to go, then he’ll go. Again like I said it’s nothing against Gardner because I think he played a really good game but if Jalen is ready he will go.

On the team still controls its own destiny.

You know, you don’t think about it yet. We have to take these pieces that they gave us that we created ourselves and then sit on them for a bit. Because when you sit down on it for a bit and identify what went wrong and what went wrong, that’s how you improve. And that’s all we aspire to do, it’s just better. We will think about the Saints after we solve the problem of this game, because I know the Saints are a good team, but we have to solve the problems of this game. There is a process, there are stages, after losing a match, after winning a match. The steps are: get in, watch the tape, figure out what went wrong, coach the game, fix it, then move on. So that’s what we’re going to do. We’ll have to stick to that for a bit. The main objective is that we will come out better.

By losing Avonte Maddox.

Yes, Avonte is a very good player. We’ll see what happens with him. Again, good attack. Kellen Moore, good offensive coordinator. Coach McCarthy, good attacking spirit. It was a good attack, and every time you are without one of your players it will of course affect you a little, but we have great confidence in our replacement. But, like I said, we’ll have to see the tape and see what went wrong. I have ideas, obviously, with some of the things I’m telling you about, but I really want to dive into the band and improve.

On what the message was to the team.

Hey, we win together. We celebrate together and we recover together. Everything is together. Together, together, together. There was not a phase that dropped a phase. It was attack, defense, training, everything. We are in this together and the teams that stick together through the ups and downs of the season are the teams that continue to grow together. So let’s go. We will find out. Let’s improve on this one and become better at it.
