5) Eagles receivers vs. Cowboys cornerbacks. The Cowboys’ best cornerback is Trevon Diggs, who creates a ton of great plays but also gives up on them. Otherwise, the Cowboys are missing CB2 Anthony Brown and starting slot CB Jourdan Lewis. The distribution of CB snaps for the Cowboys went as follows against the Jaguars last Sunday: Diggs: 70 snaps (out of 70 possible snaps), DaRon Bland: 65 snaps, Kelvin Joseph: 37 snaps, Nahshon Wright: 19 snaps. Logic might dictate the Eagles should play Miles Sanders if Hurts can’t play, but AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith vs. this group of corners is perhaps the biggest mismatch in this game. My bet is that the Eagles come out throwing no matter who the quarterback is.

Smith would be a big help for a Giants team whose current leading receiver is Darius Slayton with 40 catches, 631 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Smith has 71 catches, 901 yards and five touchdowns this season for the Eagles, and he’s averaging 5.3 yards after catch per reception. New York initially returned to the No. 20 and drafted Florida wide receiver Kadarius Toney — who played just 10 games with the Giants (39 catches) before being traded to Kansas City at the trade deadline.

After allowing 200 passing yards just once in the first eight weeks of the season, Dallas has allowed it in five of its last six games. Jacksonville was the first team to pass for 300 yards on Dallas this season. Much of that came from targeting linebackers and Kelvin Joseph in coverage, in addition to all the multiple looks and game action incorporated into Jacksonville. It took a lot of creative play calls and specific player targeting for the Jaguars to get to the Dallas defense this week, of course. But the Cowboys secondary has taken a step back in recent weeks. It would be one thing to put it down to good play by the opposing quarterback, but the Houston TexansThe dual-QB experience of Davis Mills and Jeff Driskel racked up 213 passing yards with a 74% completion rate. Those are minor concerns given the balance of the rest of the season, but it’s the kind of nitpicking needed for a team that should aspire to the conference championship game in a month. One of the top five teams in the league by DVOA, Dallas has the roster to compete for a superbowl. The road ahead is tough enough, considering the Cowboys were propelled into the wild card slot by the Eagles 13-1. After such good play off that defensive and offensive line for most of the season, slipping before the playoffs would make things unnecessarily more difficult.

With only three games left, the end of the season is near and the Dallas Cowboys are currently 10-4. If you read this debacle after the week, it would be a surprise to the highest degree. A welcome, too. Regardless of how they got here by defying preseason expectations, the end of the season is the exact time things need to fall into place if a team hopes to move the season forward late in the season. In stark contrast to that, there have been questions about this team’s legitimacy after shaky fights against the AFC South, the NFL’s weakest division. That question boils down to: Are the 2022 Dallas Cowboys contenders or contenders? Regardless of efficiency stats, Dak Prescott isn’t playing his best football. He’s yet to go over 300 yards in a single game and has just two fewer interceptions than he’s had touchdowns in the past four weeks. If this team is to prove itself to the general public after a severe disappointment last year, it starts with him.

It doesn’t look like cornerback Adoree ‘Jackson or safety Xavier McKinney returning to the New York Giants roster this week against the Minnesota Vikings. Coach Brian Daboll said Tuesday that McKinney, who hasn’t played since fracturing his fingers in his left hand in an accident the week off, will not practice again this week. McKinney will miss his seventh straight game. Daboll said Jackson, who has missed four games since spraining an MCL by returning a punt, “is doing better,” but wasn’t sure Jackson could practice this week. Daboll said on Tuesday there were no other injury concerns.

Trade Chase Young: To some fans this may seem awful, however, when you look at the big picture, this staff made a MAJOR mistake in taking Young over Justin Herbert. Now, you can never predict injuries (or the meteoric rise Herbert would have during his early years in the league), but Young just didn’t have the impact we needed from the second pick in the game. 2020 NFL Draft total. Montez Sweat is the best player and should be the guy we re-sign (assuming we can’t keep them all). If the staff shuts down Chase for the rest of 2022 and lets him go straight, both physically and mentally, he can hopefully get back to full strength for the 2023 season. In a perfect world, he comes out early and blows up the league gates with a return to rookie form. And then, just as his trade value increases, Washington moves him ahead of the 2023 trade deadline for a first-round pick in 2024 (and possibly beyond).
