The San Francisco 49ers prepare for their Week 17 game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Deep Samuel practiced for the second consecutive day. The wide receiver is trying to come back from MCL and sprained ankle suffered in Week 14 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Fans won’t see Samuel return against the Raiders. The 49ers ruled him out for Sunday. However, Samuel could play in the 49ers regular season finale against the Arizona Cardinals.

“We’ll see how practice goes,” head coach Kyle Shanahan said. “I mean, he has to train more than he did this week, but he has a chance to do it.”

49ers could have opened training window for running back Elijah Mitchell this week. He was not seen for the first part of the practice open to journalists.

In fact, we would have opened [the practice window] today or maybe even yesterday, but he’s been home sick for the last two days,” Shanahan explained. “We had a bug, but he’s been good enough to start training today (even if he didn’t) then we’ll definitely start next week.”

Below are the official injury reports for the 49ers and Raiders, provided by the 49ers communications staff. Also included are Friday’s practice sharing reports.

49ers-Raiders injury report: Deebo Samuel return highlights Thursday practice

The San Francisco 49ers prepare for their Week 17 game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. The biggest news from Thursday’s practice was the return of Deebo Samuel. The wide receiver joined his teammates on the field for the first time since suffering MCL and ankle sprains against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Dec. 11. He should be ready for the playoffs, with a return at some point in those last two regular-season games a possibility. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Samuel’s return on Thursday is likely but depends on how his practice on Wednesday goes. Samuel was a limited participant in the practice. With the NFC West title and a playoff spot already secured, there is no need

49ers injury updates on Jimmy Garoppolo, Kerry Hyder; Deebo Samuel could return to training on Thursday

Deebo Samuel could return to practice as early as Thursday, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said. Of course, it all depends on how today goes. “I think he has a chance to practice tomorrow,” Shanahan told reporters before the first full practice of the week. “It depends on how today’s training goes and all that.” Shanahan provided further injury updates during today’s pre-workout press conference, including an update on quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who had his cast this week. Does the coach have a better idea of the timeline for Garoppolo’s return to the pitch? “No. Nothing changed with that,” Shanahan replied. He just got the hard cast off so he’s not able to move around and do things yet.

Kyle Shanahan provides injury updates for Deebo Samuel, Elijah Mitchell and several others ahead of 49ers-Raiders

For only the fourth time this season, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan stepped onto the podium after a game and had no injuries to report. Running back Jordan Mason and cornerback Charvarius Ward appeared to suffer injuries against Washington Commanders. However, the coach did not name them in the post-match injury report, indicating the team were not concerned either. Both players returned to action, with Mason playing 16 more snaps on special teams after the opening kickoff scare and Ward returning in the fourth quarter after feeling nauseous and being checked for a head injury. On Monday, two days after the game, Shanahan spoke to reporters via conference call, providing injury updates. One of the
